Scientific concept is the foundation to pupils in further learning. The experience and the cognitive structures which were owned by pupils also affects pupils in learning scientific concept. The concepts which the pupils had already learned are not all scientific concept. Some of those concepts are vague, some of those are incomplete, and some of those are even wrong. So how to make the known concepts change into scientific concept and how to absorb the new concepts into the cognitive structures of pupils becomes a hotspot in the area of cognitive studying recently. In the circumstance that the researches of conceptual change are conducted deeply and widely in west countries, the investigators of our country take more and more attention into the process of the basic cognitive mechanism of conceptual change and the promoting conceptual change in recent years. At present, the researches of conceptual change in China which are mostly about the conceptual change of middle school students are lack of the conceptual change of pupils. Among the researches which we have conducted already, they are almost about conceptual change in teaching strategy but little on the Psychological Mechanism of conceptual change. Thus, we explore the Psychological Mechanism of conceptual change of pupils by means of teaching the pupils the concept about ‘Cold andHot’ and analyzing the records after teaching. We used a method of the combination of qualitative analysis andquantitative analysis which also includes questionnaire surveys, experiments and interviews. In the research, the object of study ispupils of4th grade of primary school, and we use the research ofconceptual change in the knowledge of ‘Cold and Hot’ for workingout the pretest and the posttest, thus we can research thePsychological Mechanism of scientific conceptual change of thepupils at4th grade. The results of the research:1The main Psychological Mechanism of conceptual change wefound in4th grade pupils are understand and accept, contrast andunderstand, inference and understand, analyze the special case, observe and understand.2.There are4stages we found in the conceptual change ofpupils: Preparation, Using, Accomplish, Aggrandizenment.3. The main factors which effect conceptual change containsthe level of development of cognition,‘conceptual ecology’ofchildren, and the influence of teaching activities.
