His theory of spirituality and the poetry that is created under its guidance have always been hotspots of Qing Dynasty poetry studies, but the specialized research about complex relationship between his theory of spirituality and poetry practice is relatively less, so this paper will try to study the poetry and the theory of spirituality of Yuan Mei comprehensively and investigate their relationship that includes coincidence and inconsistency on the basis of previous studies in order to grasp the theory of spirituality and poetry practice of Yuan Mei more accurately and objectively.The introduction part will review literature that is related to the topic and then put forward my own research focus and thinking on the basis of learning previous research.The first chapter will explain the theory of spirituality’s connotation and analyze its specific characteristics about "truth" and "agility" separately.The second chapter and the third chapter will focus on studying consistent and inconsistent relationship between poetry practice and theory of spirituality of Yuan Mei and then try to explain the reasons why the poetry creation deviate from his theory of spirituality in the third chapter.As the leader of spirituality school of poetry, the fourth chapter will select some representative poets in the mid-Qing Dynasty and discuss that the relationship between poetry creation and theory of Yuan Mei is consistent on the whole by comparing and analyzing their typical text.
