As is known to all, the subject of Solfeggio has always been one of the compulsory course for students majoring in music in universities of china, which plays a crucial role in whole music learning process. In recent years, more and more attention is paid on to the Solfeggio construction, then various of Solfeggio textbooks published, most of which are made and wrote by professional music education workers from different colleges and universities, in varies of majors and at different levels.However,for now,there are few Solfeggio tutorials can achieve comprehensively and systematically and combine Rudiments with Harmony very well. This paper studies the book titled "Universal Courses of Sight Reading&Ear Training",which is wrote by XiongWei, an associate professor at Music College of Hunan Normal University. The main content of the book is "syllabus of sight reading and ear training for Normal universities", which contains a variety of music elements, such as pitch, harmony, rhythm, mode, tonality, and so on, and properly integrates basic exercises, auditory analysis, dictation and sight singing into practice as a whole. The book is wide used as teaching material in more than20colleges and universities across the country, especially in Hunan Normal University, it is a major textbook for undergraduate teaching and graduate students teaching, and obtained the consistent high praise. it is valuable to research this subject. To study and summarize the periodic teaching practice and research of Mr.Xiong, to probe into the teaching material writing features and advantages by analysis and comparison, as well as to collect literature and data, this paper want to do a targeted research of the writer’s sight reading and ear training teaching process, and summarize his teaching methods and ideas of sight reading and ear training.This paper is divided into four parts. In the introduction part, first introduce associate professor Xiong’s academic achievement and teaching activities, including the main published writings, academic articles, and music education work, etc.then to analyze this article research goal and significance, by means of a simple list of textbooks wide applied and influential, compare those books with the "Universal Courses of Sight Reading&Ear Training" preliminarily, summarizing this article research significance, and help to analyze its structure, features and advantages for the following pages.The first chapter is the foundation of this paper, focusing on the basic content of the "Universal Courses of Sight Reading&Ear Training". Contents of this chapter is divided into three parts, the first part analyzing the compilation background of the book, including social education background, present situation of sight reading and ear training in normal universities, the levels of music students, etc. Then, summarizing and analyzing the author textbook writing background and motivation. The second section analyze the basic content and structure of the book, mainly includes the structure layout of the whole teaching material and the Mode and Tonality arrangement of the basic content, Interval and Chord training, Rhythm and Tempo, Solfege,etc. Listing these elements in the form of a table, then facilitate to summarize and introduce. The third section is on the basis of the two contents before analysis, compares with other materials, start from the written form, principle and content, combines with the Transcriptions, analyzes the writing features and advantages, which is the main content of this chapter.The second chapter and the third chapter of this article are main part of the article. The second chapter is mainly from two aspects study and comb teaching method of the "Universal Courses of Sight Reading&Ear Training":one is teaching method embodied in the teaching material, which constitutes the first section of this chapter, including Do method selection and different disciplines contact; the other is the second section of this chapter, which from the editor’s practical teaching activities sum up his teaching method, summarizes two of the most important teaching methods, to a certain extent, equivalently supplement or emphasize the teaching material.The idea of writing of the third chapter is almost same as the second chapter, the first section to explore teaching ideas of the editor by according to the teaching material and the editor’s teaching activities, the difference is that this section is a refiner for above materials structure, content and method. Summary and inspiration in the second section, is the generalization summary of the whole article, in which put forward my own views and thinking to the teaching material, and state the role and the enlightenment for future of this paper writing.
