The Research On The Relationship Among Parenting Style,self-eateem And Forgiveness Of Middle School Students

Forgiveness involves two people,as for the victim, forgiveness is giving up the anger ofthe man who has hurt the victim, it is the psychological process which is treating theoffender with mercy attitude;As for the offenders, forgiveness is forgiving the guilt ormistakes which are made by yourself, it is the psychological process which is changing hatingyourself into loving yourself, and then undertake the responsibility forwardly and try to findout the victim’s tolerance to forgive yourself.Self-esteem is one of the factors which isinfluencing the forgiveness, and parenting style has an important influence onself-esteem.This study has an in-depth survey of junior middle school students’forgivenessfeatures, and discusses the relationship between parenting style,self-esteem and forgiveness ofjunior high school students.This research adopts stratified sampling, it selected7middle schools from NanKaiExperiental School of TianJin, No.2Middle School of WeiXian in XingTai, and5middleschools of CangZhou area and chosed1400students as subjects from grade one to gradethree.We use Short-EMBU questionnaire, the revised two-dimensional self-esteemquestionnaire (SLCS-R),and the forgiveness tendency of teenager questionnaire. Thisresearch makes the following main conclusions.1.The status of the junior high school students’ parenting styleJunior high school students of different sex have significant differences in father’s refuse,parents’ excessive protection factor, and boys scored higher than girls; Junior middle schoolstudents in different regions have significant differences in father refused, and parents’emotional warmth factor, and city scores are higher than rural scores; Junior middle schoolstudents in different grade has significant differences only in father’s emotional warmth factor,and the students’ score in grade one and grade two is significantly higher than students’ scorein grade three; parents of different degree have significant differences in parents’ emotionalwarmth factor, and the higher degree parents are more easy to use emotional warmtheducational ways.2.The status of the junior high school students’ self-esteem The level of self-esteem in junior high school students is higher.In terms of gender, it hassignificant differences in total scores of esteem and other two dimensions between boy andgirl; In terms of area, it has significant differences in each factor of self-esteem betweenjunior middle school students of different regions, and city scored higher than the countryside;In terms of grade,All the students of every grades has significant differences in the variousfactors of self-esteem; In terms of parents ‘education level, it has significant differences inparents of different education and students’various factors of self-esteem.3.The status of the junior high school students’ forgivenessIn terms of gender, it has significant differences in forgiving yourself and punishingyourself, forgiving others between boy and girl. In terms of area, it has significant differencesonly in forgiving yourself factor of junior high school students, and city scored higher thanthe countryside. In terms of grade,there is no differences in every factors of forgivenessbetween the students; In terms of parents ‘education level, it has significant differences inforgiving yourself and punishing yourself between father’s different education level.4.There are significant correlation between Junior high school students’ parenting styleand self-esteem, self-esteem and forgiveness, parenting style and forgiveness.5.Parenting style affects forgiveness through self-esteem, self-esteem plays a role ofintermediary between parenting style and forgiveness.
