Art of singing, a process of recreation, plays an integral part both in our lives and human’s spiritual civilization. It evolved as politics, society, science, economics and humanity advanced in the19century. Opera enters into its prime time and the singers are more proficient than before with of the gorgeous concert in the past replaced with dramatic concert as its mainstream. Furthermore, the emergence and rise of art songs present another admiration for the people.This paper is divided into four chapters. Preface mainly introduces its current research, the meaning of this topic, the characteristic of research and the definition of "Europe"Chapter one primarily makes a summarization of European vocal music prior to19th century, looking back on the early evolution of art of singing, the birth of opera and the singing style of1st Golden Age of Singing.Chapter Two elaborates on how vocal music developed in the ninteenth century from the perspective of the background and music schools development through analyzing the change of European vocal music.Chapter Three works on opera creation’s influence on vocal music evolution of19th century. Singing style changing from gorgeous concert to dramatic concert has posed a new challenge to the singer. The status change in singers is also in accordance with the opera creation in this period.Chapter four makes a brief description of how artistic songs of romanticism in Germany and Austria developed from the perspective of the genre of the song and singing style so as to highlight its profound influence to the development of the vocal music after the19th century.The conclusion part makes a reflection after making a retrospect on the development of European vocal music in the19th century.
