In this paper, one groundwater source alongside river was taken to evaluate the groundwater resources of the water sources by using numerical simulation method for example, which located in Sala mountain valley, Lanshan district in Rizhao City, predict underground water level dynamic in the future, and provide the basis for the rational development and utilization of the groundwater source and scientific management. The total study area of the water source in Lanshan district in Rizhao City covers an area of39.2km2, the region is divided into2kinds of landform type, the valley plains region (Ⅰ) and the hilly and mountainous areas (Ⅱ). Groundwater type is divided into two types of loose rock pore water and massive fissure water. In water source exploration stage, field reconnaissance of water source was finished, the geological condition of research area, especially tectonic characteristics and types of groundwater were investigated clearly. On this basis, the construction location of pumping holes and observation holes were determined by the Physical exploration.The water source alongside river is widely used in water supply in most regions because of the stable water quantity, good water quality. The key to maintain good water source running is to make an accurate evaluation of groundwater resources. At present, the evaluation method is commonly used:hydrodynamic analytical method, water balance method, numerical simulation method, electricity network simulation method, etc. The numerical simulation method is widely used in the actual work due to flexible and convenient, suitable for all kinds of complicated hydrogeological condition. The accurate basic data was provided for obtaining hydrogeological parameters through the field pumping test, ready for using groundwater simulation software GMS to simulat numerically the groundwater flow. First, the processing method of stream in the model was determined by discussing applicability of the MODFLOW river subpackages:numerical model was set up in combination with the practical situation of the workspace and the generalization of the hydrogeological conceptual model, debugged according to the hydrogeologic parameters obtained early on the numerical simulation mode to determine the correctness of the model, predicted the change of the groundwater flow field in the future under the proposed mining scheme, evaluated the quantity of groundwater resources and determined the quantity of the exploitation of water sources. Simulation results show that:the underground water level drawdown process smoothly, won’t appear large drawdown funnel under the proposed mining scheme; groundwater resources supplementary amount is greater than excretion, belongs to stable water source because of guaranteed mining; the water level in the center of the proposed water source will be3m, drawdown will be15m after mining8500m3/d a year later, water landing funnel range is not big, the water level in the center of the water source tends to be stable. Therefore, if8500m3/d mining of the proposed water source is selected, water quantity is fully guaranteed, and the water has the potential to expand production.The scheme of development and utilization of water source is determined through preliminary evaluation of water resources and water quality, and intends to Rizhao Steel Base, Rizhao the focus Power Plant, the water company, Tiger Mountain-Andong Town in four direction of the water supply.
