With the development of society and the progress of technology, dramatically speeding up urban construction, the scope of the city is also expanding. The rapid development of remote sensing technology in the last decade, a variety of platforms to get more and more rich information of remote sensing images. Remote sensing technology as a means of emerging technologies can easily and quickly access multi-temporal image data from the same geographic location. Thus, remote sensing satellite imagery provides a new means for the rapid analysis of changes and trends in urban development. Through remote sensing image analysis, interpretation, object recognition feature can be obtained in many cities, roads, vegetation and a variety of terrain, topography and other features, to extract the relevant information can feature in urban development planning, construction of digital cities, resources survey and other work conditions play a huge role. Therefore, the use of satellite images to automatically extract the city limits can provide a scientific basis for the future development and expansion of the city.Therefore, in this paper, remote sensing technology to automatically extract the city limits and methods of in-depth study, the main research work summarized as follows:(1) the principles of remote sensing images, especially the use of high resolution remote sensing image feature extraction methods and identify the characteristics of surface features were summarized and analyzed. The surface features of various types of image detail is divided into three different categories, namely, spectral characteristics, texture characteristics and key features. On the basis of in-depth analysis of all the characteristics of the analysis, for the most typical feature extraction method in-depth analysis and discussion, to lay the foundation for the subsequent chapters in urban areas and scope of extraction.(2) the use of a city-wide detection algorithm based on multi-feature fusion to achieve automatic extraction of the city limits. Based on this method, you can issue common feature fusion transformed into a multi-function characterized by a combination of nuclear, then, again by way of multi-core learning to complete the multi-feature fusion, and ultimately the city limits classifier OK. For remote sensing image classification using traditional methods and designs and uses edge detection technology to the city limits of the study area were extracted extraction, and the results were analyzed and evaluated. And pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of this paper, a method for further study of the city limits to be automatically extracted to provide research foundation through remote sensing images.
