Surface roughness is microcosmic geometry appearance of machinery componentsurface, which consists of tiny space, peak of wave and trough of wave, it is one ofimportant performance parameters of machinery component surface quality. Surfaceroughness causes lots of harms to the function and performance of the machinerycomponent and device. In order to control the surface roughness, we must measure itaccurately firstly, then improve the produce method, boost the technology level andcontrol the quality of the components and devices according to the result of surfaceroughness mesurement. There is important actual significance to measure surfaceroughness accurately.Portable surface roughness measurement instrument is used widely in producingdepartment and metrology department. This subject is choosed based on reading a lot ofrelevant material, researching deeply on domestic and overseas relevant measurementinstruments and analyzing development level of this production synthetically.Currently, the instrument and method of measuring surface roughness is various.We select tracer method to design this instrument, and choose inductance sensor tosense the roughness message of component surface, and select P89LPC936with lowcost and high performance as MCU which is produced by NXP Company, and choose Clanguage with high efficiency and friendly interface to write software. In order toimprove accuracy and stability, we use two methods to design and test inspiring signalgenerating unit and data collecting unit separately, one is frequency testing methodbased on oscillating circuit, and the other one is impedance analyzing method based onAD5933chip. According to the testing result, we select the latter one.According to the testing and verifying result, the performance parameters of thisinstrument have achieved the supposed target, it has high resolution and stability, afterlater complete design and optimizing, it will own high practical value and extent marketprospect.
