Oil fracturing proppant is a kind of important material used in fracturing operation in oil and natural gas industry. The action mechanism of oil fracturing proppant was that proppant was injected into rock fracture in deep zone by high pressure to support rock layer so that rock stratum was keep open when the pressure at the bottom of petroleum well was lower than fracture closure pressure. Thus, oil conductivity and production were increased. By statics, production of petroleum well using oil fracturing proppant could be increased by30%to50%. Besides, service life of petroleum well using oil fracturing proppant could also be extended, which showed its critical role in the exploiting of hyposmosis oil-gas well. The main bauxite produced in china is diasporic bauxite featured by high ferric content and relatively low aluminum content. For the sake of its characteristic, diasporic bauxite is hard to be widely used, which lead to great waste of resource. And it is also not suitable for raw material of oil fracturing proppant producing, while the production,in China,of bauxite with a low ferric content used to produce oil fracturing proppant is decreasing day by day and the cost of producing proppant is increasing. Confronted with this situation, adopting diasporic bauxite removed ferrum as raw material of proppant production can not only lower the cost of producing proppant, but also increase resource utilization rate, thus a double benefit can be get.Bauxite with a high ferric content produced in Heqing district of Yunnan province was studied in this paper. This kind of bauxite could not be directly used as raw material in proppant producing because of its high ferric content. It was found by chemical analysis that the main ferric oxides in the bauxite were goethite and hematite and the other gangues were quartz, calcite, clay and so on. As these gangues associated with diasporic bauxite and most of them could be separated from each other by grinding to the required particle size, ferrum in diasporic bauxite could be removed by magnetic roasting-magnetic separation, which reduced hematite in it into magnetite and removed it by magnetic separation. Thus the purpose of removing ferrum and beneficiating aluminum could be achived.Reducing agent used in the magnetic roasting-magnetic separation was actived carbon. The influence of roasting temperature, roasting time, dosage of reducing agent, fineness of the ore and magnetic intensity on ferric content and recovery in the tailings was researched. By a large amount of experimental study, the optimum conditions were settled. Particularly, roasting time was70min, roasting temperature was800℃, percentage of reducing agent in bauxite was8%, fineness of the ore was-400mesh particles took85%and magnetic intensity was0.4T. Under the optimum conditions, ferric content in the tailing was reduced to5.68%, aluminia content was increased to72.3%and aluminia recovery in tailing reached64.22%. At last, the tailing could reach the requirement of proppant producing.Bauxite, which could reach requirement of proppant producing after treatment by magnetic roasting-magnetic separation, was made into proppant and the processing properties of proppant were tested. The mainly tested parameters were volume density, apparent density, percentage of damage, turbidity and acid solubility. By testing, all of the technological parameters met the requirements.
