At present, ordinary manual CO2welding method is usually used in the cabin cubiclestructure welding in domestic shipyard. So the production efficiency is low, the productionenvironment is poor, the labor intensity is high, and the welding quality is not stable for thereason of the human factors. According to the above problems, on the basis of the researchof related enterprise production status at home and abroad, this paper presents that usingrobot to weld the cabin cubicle structure in shipbuilding. According to the structure of thecabin cubicle and its welding requirements, this paper designs robot welding system,chooses welding robot, welding power and wire feeder and other equipment required, andchooses welding materials matching the parent metal. This paper mainly researches therobot vertical welding in cabin cubicle structure, and optimize the welding parameters.The research results shows that, both the welding gap and welding parameters such aswire feeding speed, voltage compensation, welding speed, weaving track, wire extendedlength, stiffness of the arc, welding direction and torch posture have an influence on robotvertical welding weld sharp. The experiment establishes a robot vertical welding parameterdata base for different welding gap by optimization.The welding gap also has important influence on robot docking welding seam forming.The research results shows that through the base and filled with the multilayer welding canobtain a good weld forming under45°groove butt joint and assembling clearance of0.5-3.5mm. In order to ensure the welding quality, matched welding parameters should beused under different clearance.In this paper, robot welding procedure accredited experiment was performed for verticalposition welding AH32steel plate with thickness of12mm. Mechanical propertiesexperiment and micro-metallographic analysis for welded splices were implemented. It wasfound that the mechanical properties of welded joints fulfill the requests of classificationsociety.The research results shows that in the premise of guarantee the quality of welding, theworking efficiency of robot vertical welding can up to vertical welding by hand twice ormore commonly. The research of vertical position welding using robot will widen theapplication of robots in the field of ship building, even can push ship building industryforward.
