In this thesis, two symmetrical flexible bis(pyridyl) molecules withethylenediamine spacer were synthesized and employed to react with five kinds ofaliphatic or aromatic organic carboxylic acids and three kinds of inorganic acids withdifferent configurations, generating27supramolecular complexes. Meanwhile, all thesecomplexes were characterized by element analysis, IR, PL, powder and single crystalX-ray diffraction. Structural analysis indicated that only the aliphatic N atoms ofbis(pyridyl) molecules could be protonated in the presence of organic carboxylic acids. In comparison, inorganic acids, HCl, HNO3, and HClO4can make both the aliphatic andpyridyl N atoms to be protonated, which then achived the purpose of stepwiseprotonation and resulted in double and quadruple protonated supramolecular complexes.Mixed anions induced supramolecules presented more intricate structures than those ofsingle anions induced ones. Interestingly, under the existence of several inorganicanions, bis(pyridyl) molecules only combine to nitrate and perchlorate anions to formsupramolecular complexes. Therefore, these two bis(pyridyl) molecules can be used forpotential trapping agent of nitrate and perchlorate. Luminescent property investigationshows that these supramolecules exhibit fluorescence emission at room temperature.
