Because of their unique and excellent physical and chemical properties,single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) exhibit a good prospect of application inmany fields. Present the preparation of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs)always are different electrical conductivity, different chiral mixed samples. Thedifferences between them mainly are their diameter and spiral angle and chiral index. Itmakes the separation of metallic SWNTs and semiconducting SWNTs (m-SWNTs, s-SWNTs) and different chiral separation of single-walled carbon nanotube technology isparticularly important. Because SWNTs are easy to gather, go against dispersed inaqueous solution. Search the method of effective dispersion and separation to get thestable dispersion and single properties of SWNTs, thus it has many applications in manyfields such as electronics, optoelectronics is the frontier research topic in the field ofcarbon nanotubes research. The main research contents of this master dissertation are as follows:1) Crude products of prepared by arc discharge method of single-walled carbonnanotubes are respectively purified by heat treatment, chemical treatment, dispersionand centrifugation to remove the impurities. Highly pure SWNTs were obtained.2) Using polymer effect of single-walled carbon nanotubes can form stabledispersion, adopted the methods of density gradient and aromatic polyimides withtriphenylamine separate the metallic and semiconducting SWNTs. Scanning electronmicroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and absorption spectroscopy show that m-SWNTs ands-SWNTs were separated efficiently.
