This research adopts the therapy of mainly deep needling three periodic acupoints, and appraises the clinical effects of that therapy by using scales that are general on the international and in China, and discusses the theory of deep needling through periodic acupoints to cure tinnitus, and provides bases for curing tinnitus with traditional Chinese medicine, and looks for more effective and quicker method to cure subjective tinnitus. We chose50patients of persistent subjective tinnitus that came to Guang’anmen Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Science from October2012to March2013to conduct the study. Subjects were identified with numbers1-50according to their registration order, and then were divided by completely randomized method to deep needling group and shallow needling group with each group25samples. We used a single blind method, so subjects didn’t know which group they were in.Both groups were treated with Huotuo disposable acupuncture needles of which the diameter is0.30mm and the length is40mm. In the deep needling group, Baihui,Fengchi(bilateral), Gonexue(bilateral), Yifeng(affected side), Ermen(affected side), T’inghui(affected side), Zhigou(affected side) and Zhongzhu(affected side) were needled, within which Yifeng(affected side), Ermen(affected side) and T’inghui(affected side) were deep needled and the other acupoints were needled normally. The chosen acupoints of shallow needling group were the same as the deep needling group, and Yifeng(affected side), Ermen(affected side) and T’inghui(affected side) were shallowly needled and the other acupoints were normally needled. Subjects were treated for30min each time,5times each week and4weeks wholly.Scores of tinnitus handicap inventory(THI), scores of visual analogue scale(VAS) of tinnitus volume, grades of tinnitus were observed and recorded before treatment, in the second week since the first treatment, in the fourth week since the first treatment. The clinical effects of the two groups were compared. The results shows:1.In the fourth weed after treatment, as for the deep needling group, the curative rate is27.3%, the response rate is59.2%. As for the shallow needling group, the curative rate is5.0%, the response rate is20.0%. The efficacies of the two groups have statistical difference(P<0.05) by rank-sum test. The clinical effect of the deep needling group is significantly superior to that of the shallow needling group.2. In the second week since the first treatment, THI scores, VAS scores and tinnitus grades between the two groups have no statistical difference.3. In the fourth week since the first treatment, THI scores, VAS scores and tinnitus grades between the two groups have statistical difference(P<0.05). Conclusions can be drawn from the results:1. The THI scores of deep needling group are decreased significantly. Deep needling method has a distinct advantage in neutralizing patients’ emotions and developing patients’ quality of life.2. The VAS scores of deep needling group are decreased significantly. Deep needling method has a distinct advantage in decreasing patients’tinnitus volume.3. The tinnitus grades of deep needling group are decreased significantly.4. The clinical effect of mainly deep needling three periodic acupoints to cure subjective tinnitus is fine. Synthesizing the above mentioned results, it is preliminarily proved that the therapy of mainly deep needling three periodic acupoints to cure subjective tinnitus can improve clinical physiology and emotional symptoms obviously, and improve patients’ quality of life significantly. This therapy is definitely effective, safe, reliable, easy and practicable. It can be popularized and used.
