On The Public Understanding Of History And Historiography

With the development of heat mass historiography in recent years, more and more of the public history cultural phenomenon by many scholars, but most are just as a social phenomenon, the cultural phenomenon to study, deconstruction, and less alone as a historical phenomenon. The study of history knowledge is an important part of history study has not yet been completed, as public history of the construction of the theory of the history understanding problem, it is particularly important. The author mainly from "what is public history" as the main theme, understanding of public history and historical research.The body of the paper is divided into three parts.First part:The study and analysis of public historical culture.This part mainly focused on the market research of current public’interest of historical knowledge especially through books and periodicals field,also through film and television field and news transmission filed to analyze the deferent kinds of modes and directions of public’interest for historical knowledge.Second part:The state of the cause,historical background,definition and properties of the public historical knowledge interest growing up.This part mainly focused on discussing and analysis of the cause,historical background,definitions and properties of public’interest of historical knowledge in comparison of historical consciousness and academic history.Third part discusses the epistemological problems of mass historiography history. This part mainly discusses the public history contains the understanding of history including the history of understanding of the purpose, subject and object, media, cognitive process and cognitive value, knowledge and cultural relations.The innovation part of the paper is that it studied the historical cognition value of public historical culture as a kind of historical phenomenon,solved many problems related to the definition of public history and found out a lot of problems therein.Thus to relief public historical interest as a kind of special phenomenon to draw people’s great attention.The conclusion of the paper is the state of the epistemology problem of public history.It contributed to providing epistemology meaning and effect for the development of public history and meanwhile provided new study connotation for historical theory research and enlarged the historical research filed through analysis and tidy of the public historical interest phenomena.
