| "Brotherhood" is a basic social organization of Li’s relationship."Brotherhood" stories are a kind of family stories that reflect Li’s family organization, religious belief and ethics and morals. And meanwhile the aesthetic taste and value orientation of Li. The thesis is to study such folk stories reflecting the relations between the brothers,and to explore the connotations of Li’s family organization and family member relations in those folk stories by comparison with similar stories of Han.This thesis can be divided into five chapters.First chapter is to introduce the significance of this article, review predecessors’research achievements on this issue, explain the research methods and steps, and define the concept and scope of "Brotherhood" stories.The second chapter summarizes the basic situation of Li in Hainan a including natural ecology, social culture and folk literature.The third chapter makes an internal analysis on Li’s "Brotherhood" type folk stories. According to the relationship between the brothers reflected in the story, it can be divided into two types:"Mutual aid" and "Harm". Brothers in "Mutual aid" story are mutually united and overcome difficulties together. The heroes in this kind of story are normally several brothers,having different skills,which reflect Li’s desire to increase their various abilities;the Li set the brutal ruler, to express strong spirit against the oppression. By researching two similar stories of Li and Han"ten brothers" and "water on the Great Wall".The three aspects of the similarities and differences in the characters, plot setting and narrative features can be obtained, which further highlights Li’s ethnic characteristics of folk stories. The "Harm" type story can be divided into two subtypes--"brother against brother" and "brother against brother". Through analysis of the representative "brother against brother," subtype plot elements and the role characteristics, the whole story shows basic characteristic of plot and character of this kind. The victim is in a disadvantage position, but has a noble quality, who earns sympathy from others; Harm is in dominant position, with corrupt morality, who is castigated by others. Donors and donating ways emerged in the story are analyzed in detail, reflecting the concept of religion therein. The last chapter also compares Han’s "Long nose" with "Ploughing" stroy, analyzeon the narrative structures.The forth chapter is to analyzed the cultural connotations of Li’s "Brotherhood" stories in the social context from the three aspects--family organization, national religious beliefs, aesthetic appeal and value orientation.Organization form in the "family" points out that "brother against brother" type story form is the basis ofis based on Li’s the common law of "Offspring inherit"; the "national religious beliefs"," illustrates the religious belief of Li’s natural worship, animism, the immortality of the soul and respect of ghost; The "aesthetic appeal and value orientation " explains in detail on the praising of Li’s labor, despising idleness, distinguishing between right and wrong and the spirit family harmony.The fifth chapter is the conclusion of the whole thesis. |
