Feng Zikai is an outstanding cartoonist, literature and art educator in history of Chinese modern literature. His aesthetic thoughts are representative of aesthetic thoughts of artists in the1930s and play a unique role in history of modern aesthetic thoughts. From the point of life aesthetics, aesthetic thoughts of Feng Zikai, to some degree, are systematic. Feng Zikai pursuits unity of truth, goodness and beauty and he thinks that these three elements are integral. In his point of view, truth, goodness and beauty are three aspects that are necessary for human beings to take control of the world. Besides, he gives excellent and original explanation on it. As three basic dimensions of Feng Zikai’s life aesthetic thoughts, truth, goodness and beauty not only become internal content of his aesthetic thoughts but also provide angle from which we get to know his life aesthetics. This article is divided into three parts:The first part is to summarize and analyze Feng Zikai’s life aesthetic thoughts which are based on "truth". Feng Zikai adores children and appreciates innocence. He regards innocence of children’s lives and it is closely related with fun got from studying art. Feng Zikai thinks that essence of children is artistic. He advocates observing the world like a child. This view is the development of theory of preserving childlike innocence, temperament theory and utter innocence theory in Chinese ancient essays. Feng Zikai emphasizes valuable childlike innocence and regards keeping, cultivating it as the core and foundation of truth of life.The second part is to comb and discuss Feng Zikai’s life aesthetic thoughts which are based on "goodness". Under the influence of Confucianism’s "benevolence". Feng Zikai emphasizes that artists should put benevolence in the first place. He demands that artists should be benevolent and advocates "loving living things and loving heart". Goodness of life aesthetic thoughts exhibits everywhere in his essays and cartoon. The ultimate goal of his goodness is a world of universal harmony:The whole world is a big family; people love and help with each other and enjoy the beautiful life.The third part is further exploring Feng Zikai’s explanation on "beauty" based on life aesthetics and its basic points. He discusses from three aspects:"Cutting from the world" finds beauty. Through "cutting from the world", we can observe aesthetic experience of objects themselves, breaks down the utilitarian relationship of objects to find out beauty of objects."Sympathy" creates beauty. Sympathy for people of the same kind and everything creates resonance, empathy and beauty."Highbrow songs finding many singers" is beauty. He advocates "highbrow songs finding many singers" against the original "highbrow songs finding few singers". In Feng Zikai’s life aesthetic thoughts, the beauty of "highbrow songs finding many singers" is expressed in many aspects. And Feng Zikai views it as the ideal state of art development.
