Ming Dynasty is the era for systematization of calligraphy learning. People in Song Dynasty usually simply use Colophon to appreciate, rank and make comment on calligraphy work, while in Ming Dynasty, people changed this way and come out with some great work elaborating calligraphy and discussing calligraphy learning, systematizing calligraphy learning. Among these great works, Tong Xueshucheng written by Feng Fang is particularly outstanding. It not only list the clinical practice rubbings, but also giving the specific detailed guidance. The most valuable thing is that the templates for calligraphy learning he listed strictly basing on the process of calligraphy learning, composing a consistent learning sequence. On the basis of previous studies, this essay attempts to dig out the history value of templates for calligraphy learning listed in Tong Xueshucheng. The essay is divided into two chapters, the first chapter discusses the characteristics of templates for calligraphy learning in Tong Xueshucheng; Chapter II will compare the difference between templates in Feng Fang’s Tong Xueshucheng and the templates in calligraphic theory templates in Ming and Qing. Though the study and comparison, we will not only get a more comprehensive understanding of the characteristic and historical value of templates listed in Tong Xueshufang, but also intuitively understand the changing and development of calligraphy style, which corresponding certificating the aesthetic tendency and cultural background in that period, in order to fully discover historical value of Tong Xueshucheng.
