On Liao Changyong Pop Music Works "cross" Interpretation

Liao Changyong is one of the most excellent Chinese singers who are currently active in theworld opera stage. From1996to1997, he respectively won the first place three times a year inthe41st luz international vocal music competition of France, the world opera competition inDomingo and the queen sonja of international vocal music competition in Norway. As thebrilliant singer in the classical vocal music circles, Liao Changyong respectively released twopieces of popular music albums-“Love Songs” and “Love Stories” in the year of2007and2009.After releasing the two pieces of albums, he continued playing the works of popular songs byemploying the bel canto in all sorts of big galas, which had a huge influence on the society. Sothe audience are quickly moved by his mellow and elegant sound, the velvet-like tone of baritoneand graceful and affectionate singing. Meanwhile, he moves the strange type of music into thevisions of the ordinary audience.The academic dissertations or reports about Liao Changyong discuss about how a baritoneachieves success in the musical arena, the opera and the lied. However, these essays lack therecords of crossover in playing pop music. In this paper, we analyze the reasons of beingsuccessful in the crossover by our long-time research. There are some issues we need to study,for example, how to grasp the style of musical works of through different types and areas, how toreflect the skills, methods and express feeling of pop music through the way of Bel cantosinging. By analyzing the reasons, we can find the crossing points between the Bel canto singingand pop music, which will change the highbrow music into the ordinary one. Although we havegot some achievements under some singers including Liao Changyong, interpreting the works ofpop music by Bel canto singing is in the rudimentary period. Therefore, through discussing thefactors of succeeding in interpreting the pop music by Bel canto, it is beneficial for us to practiceand introduce the works of pop music to the audience through the Bel canto singing.This paper analyzes the Bel canto singing in the crossover in three aspectsThe first chapter mainly introduces the developmental processes and trends of pop music inhome and abroad. It illustrates the fundamental reasons why Liao Changyong is enthusiasticabout singing pop music by using the Bel canto singing in the crossover with his growth andschool experience.The second chapter analyzes in the aspects of the employment of breathing, resonance andenunciation and explores the recipe of interpreting pop music works. It elaborates the LiaoChangyong’s interpretation of crossover, that is, how to well express the feelings of songs bygrasping the styles of musical works. So this paper will further analyze the technical adaptationand emotional processing of crossover in the alum of “Love Stories”-The River of Time By dealing with the influences of interpretation of crossover on the vocal music singing,teaching and the promotion and generalization of Bel canto, the third chapter consists of theimportant meaning about Bel canto singing in the pop music.
