Time-travel TV series has been one of the most populated teleplays on screenrecently due to the prosperous creation and the hot play of the show.With time-travelTV series as object, this thesis tends to provide a discussion of in-depth culturalmeaning of this kind through a relatively comprehensive comparison of TV series textsand systematic studies.First, this thesis offers a general description of time-travel series from aspects ofbackground,definition, classification, aesthetic characteristics and development.Second,an analysis of the content of time-travel series has been given. Based onvarious themes, it can be categorized into romantic type, humanity type andgrowing-up type. Third,though the comparisons of female and male characters andthat of modern and historic images, the unique artistic features of time-travel serieshave been discussed. Last, the cultural characteristics of time-travel series have beensummarized from the perspectives of consumptive culture and public culture. Throughthe analysis and studies from the above four aspects, this thesis tends to reveal somecertain problems in the development of time-travel series in order to contribute to itsthematic studies and creation of practices.
