It is pointed out in The eighteenth National Congress reports:"the whole party should focus on youth, be concerned about the young, care for the young, listen to what they have to say and encourage their growth","strengthen and improve ideological and political work, focus on humanistic care and psychological counseling, foster self-confidence, rational and calm, positive and social mentality." We should conscientiously implement the spirit of the eighteenth National Congress, and actively carry out the investigation, analysis, comparison and research on "post80" and "post90" college students’ ideological situation, which has extremely important realistic significance for in-depth understanding of ideological trends, college students political orientation, moral concept, value concept, and helping them to establish the socialist core values, and striving to create a new situation in Ideological and political work, to cultivate Chinese characteristics qualified builders and reliable successors of socialism.Based on large number of literatures, the questionnaire about the ideological differences between post-90s and post-80s is designed. By sampling and comparing, we analysis the ideological conditions of post-80s and post-90s in six comprehensive, science, art, agronomy, artistic and independent Universities in Shanxi Province in terms of the consciousness of study, political outlook, moral value, consumption concept, marriage view and employment concept. Grasping the first-hand documents, breaking though the abstract summarizations and being guided by the Marxist theory, this paper concludes the characteristics of the new-generation college students and analysis its formation and development under the contextual background. The main problems and its reasons are discussed in this paper as well. Based on this comparison, the necessity of ideological differences between post-80s and post-90s can be furthered elaborated. And adopting the suggestions from educators and strategies from other college and university can also provide rational conclusions and inspirations. With a data analysis of2,000questionnaires and via discussion and interviews, the research shows that as contemporary main force on campus, the post-90s are in some way different from post-80s for the six aspects investigated here. Influenced by economic society, the network media, school education, family education as well as peers alike, they have love for freedom, personality, active thinking and being optimistic, though they pay too much attention to themselves and have low responsibility consciousness. All these reflect the impact of intricate contradictory phenomena during the reform and opening process on the ideology of these university students. In face of these new transformation, only by relying on school education on the basis of family education, with the accompany of social development, and insisting on unifying six pairs of education concepts (respectively, common education and hierarchic education, social education and individual education, practical education and theoretical education, utilitarian education and transcendental education, family education and school education as well as universal education and national education), can all forces be gathered to form resonance, thus foster in the young the morally sound values and outlook on the world and life, providing Ideological guarantee for the tertiary education’s intensive development, which is important for the sound and rapid development of the cause of socialism in China.
