With the rapid development of society and the constant improvement of people’sliving standards, people’s concerns on "health" have become one of the "hot topics"in modern society. As one of the most economical and effective way to promotehealth, physical exercise not only can effectively prevent some modern diseases butalso plays an irreplaceable role in the recovery of some diseases. But how can wepromote individuals to participate in physical exercise and form a good exercisehabit, to have a healthy body, and thus to enjoy a happy? What factors are closelyconnected with the production of exercise behavior? All these have always been amajor issue that draws great concern and is frequently researched in the field ofexercise psychology in recent years. Taking trans-theoretical model and physicalexercise attitude theory embraced in exercise behavior theory as background, adopting such research methods as literature, psychological measurement andexperiment, the paper conducts an analysis research on the physical exercisebehaviors and attitudes of750postgraduates in Xinjiang, makes comparison on theconnection between the difference of exercise behaviours influenced by genders andethnic groups and the exercise attitudes and brings in intervention for small sampleexperiments specifically in two stages of behavior (intention stage and preparationstage). The results demonstrate:1As a whole, physical exercise behaviors of the postgraduates in Xinjiang’scolleges are relatively poor and present different characteristics in different stageswith the largest number in intention stage and the smallest number of in persistencestage. More than half of the total postgraduates have no exercise behaviour. Theexercise behaviour of male postgraduates is generally better than that of the femalepostgraduate. Postgraduates of Han nationality do better in exercise behavior than theminority ethnic postgraduates.2In all stages of exercise behaviours, factors that influence Xinjiangpostgraduate’s exercise behaviours vary in genders and in ethnic groups, with amore distinct difference in genders in various phases. Differences between ethnicgroups in exercise behaviours are relatively highlighted in preliminary and seniorstages.3Self-efficacy of postgraduate in Xinjiang’s colleges increases along withexercise behavior developing, which is in accordance with the hypothesis of the trans-theoretical model. However, there exist some differences in decision balance. As for five stages of exercise, all of their perception benefits are greater than the perceptionbarriers and the discrepancy gradually enlarges with the stages of exercise behaviourprogressing.4Exercise attitude and behavior of postgraduates in Xinjiang’s colleges showpositive correlation to each other, and in different stages of exercise behaviour theeight different dimensions of contribution of exercise attitudes. Inno-exercise-behaviour stage, exercise attitude generally contributes to cognitiveaspect, while in exercise-behaviour stage the contribution of exercise attitude isreflected in action perspective—both are approximately identical with the theory thatchanging procedures influence indexes, a theory embraced in the trans-theoreticalmodel.5Interventions are imposed on the postgraduates in Xinjiang’s colleges byapplication of trans-theoretical model in intention stage and preparation stage, whoseexercise attitude and behavior are both notably and positively changed. In particular, their exercise behaviour undergoes more remarkable progress over the transitionalperiod from a lower level to a higher.
