With the development of the time, people have been questioned the knowledge of a"good" kid, because the "good" kids become more and more unsuitable later in life, and thein-adaptation may extend to their adult life and after work, etc.. Therefore the attention to thecause of children timid, and the effects of shyness on children’s life, has importantsignificance both for the development of shy children, and for the social stability.This study first designed pupils shyness questionnaire, and on this basis, the studyresearched on the relationship between shyness and self-concept, life adaptation through theresults of the study on798pupil of grade four to grade six. The study focused on the type ofpupil’s shyness, as well as the effect of demographic variables on their shyness and theiradaptation to life. And on this basis the author put forward some pertinent suggestions foreducation, in order to provide a good environment for the growth of shy pupil.The results of the study show that:(1)The development of four dimensional "pupil questionnaire" had good reliability andvalidity. It could be used as a measurement tool to measure the shyness status among children.(2) The study divided the shyness pupil into cognition dominated shyness, emotionleading type and mixed type shyness. The classification had certain reference and practicalsignificance. At the same time, the type of shyness had differences on self-concept and lifeadjustment.(3)The total score and the dimension of shyness had differences in school, grade, gender,single child, family location and whether the class cadre and other demographic variables, andthere was no difference in the family structure.(4)There was significantly correlated between the total score and the dimension ofshyness, life adjustment score and each dimension, the total scores of self-concept and itseach subscale.There was a significant negative correlation between the total score and eachdimension of shyness and other two.(5) Some demographic variables, behavioral and emotional dimension of shyness,academic self-concept, non-academic self-concept had significant predictive effects on lifeadjustment.(6)The overall self-concept and academic self-concept and non academic self-concept played a mediating role between pupil shyness and life adjustment, mediating effectaccounted for about50%...
