The purpose of present was to develop a Precompetition Psychological SelectionScale for the talent selection of police shooters. By using the method ofarticle review, expert consultation, and typical method of developingpsychological scale, the initial factors of precompetition psychologicalconstruct including “Positive competition attitude”,“Negativeprecompetition emotion”, and “Concentration” were put forward.282policeshooters participated in the preliminary study for item selection, and theconstruction of the scale’s homogeneity reliability, construct validity, andcriteria-correlated validity.232police shooters took part in the formal testof the Scale. Results showed that: Cronbach’s α coefficients of the3subscales are.717,.854, and.806, respectively; the construct validity ofthe3-factor Scale are: KMO=.827, accumulate devotion of variances are41.6%via exploratory factor analysis, while the correlation between total scalescore and competition achievement is-.304, which implies that PrecompetitionPsychological Selection Scale has acceptable homogeneity reliability,construct and criteria-correlated validity. It was concluded that the Scalecould be used as an assistant tool for measuring police shooters’precompetition psychological states for coaches’ reference.
