Explanatory style is one of the active research domain of psychology, America father of positive psychology summarized "learned helplessness" theory from the animal studies, and that the optimistic explanatory style can prevent the learned helplessness, and optimistic explanatory style can be obtained through study.As the growth of middle school students, in the face of intense study is prone to psychological problems, which affect the achievement. This study discusses the relationship between explanatory style and academic achievement of middle school students from the perspective of positive psychology, counseling program and design the optimistic explanatory style, cultivate and improve the students’positive psychological quality, and to improve their mental health level. Have certain theory value and practical value to carry out the work of mental health education of middle school students.The study is divided into two parts:Study one:on the relationship between explanatory style and academic achievement of junior high school students.Self assessment tools:basic information questionnaire; optimistic test; students in junior middle school Chinese, mathematics, English, physics four scores in the final examination.Conclusion:(1) the second of male and female students in the explanatory style scores than boys, girls scored slightly higher. But no differences between explanatory style. Comparison shows that the difference between sex, no difference in male and female students in explanatory style on the score. Whether the one-child differential display, no difference between only child and non only child in explanatory style score. Comparison of family education, democratic, indulgent, authority of the three kinds of family education mode of students’explanatory style score no difference no difference. Study on different students of the show, no difference between city and rural students (2) there exists a certain correlation between junior high school students’explanatory style and academic achievement.Study two:effect of group psychological counseling intervention students optimistic explanatory styleStarting from the perspective of positive psychology, characteristics of psychological development follow students, designed8hours of counseling plan. Including recruiting, selection, group members unit design, graduation four links. So that students in a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere learned optimism, through the interviews with the students, find better intervention effect.
