Conversion is a problem solving straegy by converting unknown problems into known ones, complex problems into simple ones, so that the original problem can be solved step by step. Based on psychological analysis,this paper obtains the general psychological process of problem solving by reading literature and, which was applied to the conversion process of mathematics function in high school. Based on this, I studied the difficulty of high school students by interview,case study, and proposed some solutions.In accordance with constructivism epistemology and theory of information processing, I analyzed the mental mechanism of Polia’s sheet of "how to solve it".Based on Polia’s theory and general mode of problem solving,I sorted out a basic process of function conversion in high school..According with the basic peocess, I analysed via case study studend’s representation before problem conversion, and mode retrieval, operator choose, meta-cognitive contral in problem conversion, and assessment and reflection after problem conversion.In general, the highlights and main results of my paper are:1. different from many research aimed to primary school mathematics, my research aims to high school function problem solving,the mental process of conversion of my research may shed light on high school mathematica learning and teaching.2. as a method of thinking, function conversion has a complex process closely related to knowledge foundation, problem solving strategy, and metacognition. My research organized all these factors in the view of the theory of information processing, and explored each factor’s function in problem solving.3. compared with big class instruction,this conversion model could help teacher deeply analyze students’ mental process, enable teacher to find where students make mistakes,and then, make decision on the relevant plan and personal directing.My research aimed at only a part content of high school mathematics. But the research mode would be used in further research on the other contents. and thus a general psychological process of problem solving could be established, which would help students gain personal directing, and help teacher improve professional skills.
