| On September30th,2009, Matsu belief was selected in intangible cultural heritage list by the UNESCO, which is the first world belief heritage in China. Meizhou memorial ceremony, Yellow Emperor mausoleum memorial ceremony in Shanxi and Qvfu memorial ceremony in Shandong are considered as the Three Chinese nation-level memorial ceremonies. With the development of Matsu culture, the folk sports culture of Matsu is an important component of Matsu folk culture, which effectively integrates sport element into Matsu culture. Matsu is the most influential Goddess of sea for China’s coastal residents and overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia. Because of globalization, the existing conditions, perdurability and development of Matsu folk sports culture are challenged by homogenization, utilitarianism and marginalization. Therefore, this study is quite meaningful for history and practice.This study adopts literature material method, field research method, expert interview method, questionnaire method,and mathematical statistic method, etc. The author, in compliance with the quaternary research approach-theoretical research, historical research, current situation research and development research, makes a comprehensive application of the theory of sociology, folklore, religious studies, anthropology and oceanography. This study mainly focuses on the current situation survey of Matsu folk sports in its cradle-Meizhou Island, Putian City, Fujian Province, as well as the theoretical and empirical study of its developing strategies.The first part is the theoretical research, which investigates the relevant concept, definition, cultural features, cultural functions and cultural value, and reviews the literature of Matsu folk culture and Matsu folk sports culture. By analyzing typical cases, exploring the content and outward manifestation of Matsu folk sports, assessing the reliability and validity of questionnaires scientifically, and combining interviews with authoritative sources, a basic theoretical framework of Matsu folk sport is formed.The second part is the historical research, namely the exploration of historic materials and research work by predecessors on Matsu folk sports as well as the cultural origin of Matsu belief and Matsu folk sports. Through studying the historical context of Matsu folk sports, its existing foundation, environment and power producer are explored.The third part is the current situation research, namely the development of Matsu folk sports in the world. In western countries, Matsu folk sports tend to marginalization; in Southeast Asia, it is undergoing a steady growth; in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese community, it is held as a most common, active and important activity.The fourth part is the development research, namely the collisions and improvement between original belief folk culture and modern folk sports culture, the clashes and adaptation between foreign folk culture and local folk culture, the social interactions of Matsu folk culture between different Matsu belief regions, the conflicts between the form and content, the scale and exploitation, the intention and goal of running Matsu folk sports, the problems in the merging process of Matsu folk sports and Chinese nation folk sports, etc.The last part concerns the research on the developing strategies of Matsu folk sports. The establishment and choice of strategies to develop folk sports depend on different cultural background, environment and period. The development mode of Matsu folk sports is a wholly new concept. From the building of theoretical system, this study holds that the so-called developing strategies of Matsu folk sports lie in the tactics or methods in dealing with every single element and step relevant to the development of Matsu folk sports, according to the principle of independency, combination and uniqueness. The developing strategies of Matsu folk sports in Meizhou Island, Putian city, Fujian province, can be concluded as follows:1.Policy is the most important guarantee to support its development.2.The integration of belief, relaxation, economy and recreation is the key point.3.encouraging overall development, keeping specialist, and providing supports are the most natural choices.4.The sports network construction of Matsu folk culture is an emerging force for the sustainable development of Matsu folk sports in Putian.5.The interaction between developing and feedback is an important way to realize the true value of Matsu folk sports culture.6.The scientific management by professional teams is inevitable.7.Developing folk sports in the school is the most basic model.8.Fesitival celebrations are the main battlefield.9.Participation by all people is the best principle line.10.The combination of developing by competition transformation and popularization is the general path.ll. study and reference of relevant mingling development is a necessary supplement... |
