With the popularization of computer application and the gradual advancement ofE-administration and E-commerce, it is inevitable that some corresponding informationadministrative systems should be applied in universities to promote scientific,standardized informative and efficient administrative work. The front-end of students’information management system is complete-functional application; the daemonicapplication is to build a powerful database, that is, data security and integrity, dataconsistency. This system makes full use of VB program developing tools to design anddevelop strongly operable user interfaces, which can realize intelligent operation of thedatabase. At the initial stage of development, this system needs to build systemprototype, and then to modify, analyze and iterate it in order to meet the needs of users.The development of this system can ease the school staff’s working pressure and canmake the work of teaching and education more standardized; of course, it can alsoreduce the waste of labors and speed up the searching process, so the development ofthis system has certain significance to the educational system. However, there is nodenying that it has many disadvantages in the development process, such as: poorconfidentiality, low efficiency, a lot of redundant data after long-time use, andinconvenient query and maintenance, but we will gradually improve and perfect it inpractice.This is conducted a detailed investigation and analysis of the student managementwork in LiShi normal school to determine the goal and realize the managementfunctions such as to add, modify, query and print students’ information. Based on thecurrent management business process and data flow charts, this system constructs alogical model of student information management system, establishes an E-R, andmakes a detailed introduction to the system. In its development, this system mainly usesAccess2000as its database. It is open and interconnects with rest database system andapplication through open database interconnectivity technology, on which the dataaccess, exchange and share are completed. It is object-oriented, and its relationaldatabase management system is driven by the events. This system uses Visual Basic6as a development tool. According to software engineering’s development process fromdemand analysis to outline design to database design to detailed designs, it realizes a student information management system to meet the needs of the present stage. And atlast we tested its functions and performance.
