By adopting the content-analysis method, this thesis mainly focuses on the political image of mainland china created in Taiwan newspaper<Liberty Times><United Daily News><China Times> from2002to2012. The research got some findings as follows①reporting tendency: in general, the reporting tendency is negative (49.6%), and then tended to be neutral (36.1%) and positive (14.4%); from2002to2012, negative report made up the highest proportion; neutral report was the most in<United Daily News><China Times>(46.9%&44.7%), but negative report made up the highest proportion in <Liberty Times>(88.5%); during the DPP and KMT ruling period, the percent of negative report was the highest (51.8%&46.1%), but the percent of neutral report (41.1%) was more in the KMT ruling period;(2) reporting theme:in general, government theme (60.9%) and party theme (21.5%) are the most, and both focused on the central news. The percentage of local news increased constantly from2008to2012;in our research, government theme was always the most and the second is party theme from2002to2012; three newspapers all focused on government theme and party theme.<United Daily News><China Times> are homogeneity, and <Liberty Times> is different with higher percent of government theme (70.7%); government theme and party theme were the most during the DPP and KMT ruling period, but the KMT more concerned party issues. From these results, we can find①Political image of mainland China was created by government and the government party;②negative report was the most from2002to2012;③’China threat’ existed in Taiwan newspaper;④there was a high proportion of negative reports in the Pro-green media, that was very different compared with the Pro-blue media;⑤the percent of neutral report was more in the KMT ruling period.
