Urban system is the framework of regional economic development, and also is the core of regional economic growth. Pros and cons of urban system architecture, not only is an important symbol for measuring the economic, social and cultural development, but also an important part of regional economic development and rational distribution of a region. Economic globalization, cooperation and competition among cities, make the relationship among cities complexity, scale differences expansion.Research of provincial urban system, take the regional entire development and long-term interests as a benchmark, focus on the configuration of cities which are the core of spatial resources, can provide a theoretical basis for the development planning of provincial urban system scientifically and rationally, also are important in promoting coordinated regional development and social harmony and progress.As a larger north-south span province, by the greater influence of north-south differences in regional natural and cultural conditions, urban system architecture in Shaanxi province has its own unique and unreasonable, in addition to a certain size of Xi’an metropolitan area located in Guanzhong, development of urban system rest of the province areas is still in a relatively backward stage.Studies on urban system in Shaanxi Province in recent years, mainly concentrated in the Guanzhong area, few studies concentrated on the provincial urban system, and the research is often limited to the level of prefecture-level cities, lacked of depth research on the level of county and town. Meanwhile, the study of spatial structure also lacked of research on the structure of the transportation network and the spatial structure based on the transportation network.Based on this, by extracting multiple indicator scale data of county and scale of urban population data, this paper deepen the research precision level of urban system scale structure into the level of towns. Meanwhile, by extracting accurate to town-level road and rail transportation network data of Shaanxi province as the transportation data, this paper deepen the research precision level of urban system transportation network structure and spatial structure into the level of towns.By using the above data, this paper use of urban primacy index, fractal and kernel density methods to analyze the scale structure of urban system in Shaanxi Province. Using the road network density, network connectivity and accessibility model, to analyze the transportation network structure of urban system, analysis of the current situation and their shortcomings respectively, and propose effective optimization recommendations. Then combine the two in spatial, using spatial autocorrelation and gravitation and field strength models, analysis of the spatial structure of urban system, and raise a theory of urban watershed and elevation model of urban system, using this theory and model shows the three-dimensional morphology of spatial structure of urban system imagery, on the basis expand the research area to pan Shaanxi Province area including several cities surrounding the area, and analysis the urban system in this area, divided the new range of urban system in Shaanxi Province, and conducted a preliminary planning assumptions. The main conclusions are:(1) In scale structure, showing a typical distribution of the first. The central city of Xi’an is too big, slow development of medium-sized cities, development of small and medium-sized cities in the city due to the fault cannot be docked with the center of the city, a large number of small towns, scale small; it is difficult to produce the leading role of rural areas. Proposal is to accelerate the Xi’an high-end services gathered, the severity of the industrial policy guidance spread to surrounding cities, accelerate the development of medium-sized cities and small cities, small towns choose to invest in the construction of key towns.(2) In transport network structure, too much transport facilities gathered on the surrounding areas of in Xi’an, in northern Shaanxi and even in southern Shaanxi Guanzhong two things, lack of collusion. As a regional hub of Xi’an, which occupies a lot of traffic in transit traffic, the layout is overloading. Subsequent construction, for the Guanzhong area, in addition to build the ring transportation system outside the Xi’an metropolitan, but also build the lateral transport system which shut in the middle and northern lines. For southern and northern Shaanxi, beside the existing horizontal and vertical main line, build the construction of traffic on both sides as the auxiliary system.(3) In, spatial structure, pointed Shaanxi domain is not a complete geographical unit, Shaanxi urban system is a complex system of multiple complete or incomplete small urban system, Eastern Guanzhong region, including Shangluo, very closely linked, is a small urban system taking the Xi’an as the core. Baoji, Hanzhong, Ankang and Yan’an City, connected closely with itself subordinate counties, exist each semi-independent urban system. Yulin loosely connected with other cities in the province, is an independent urban system, the urban system, which take the Xi’an as the center, should include the Tianshui, Pingliang, Qingyang areas of Gansu province, and the Guyuan area of Ningxia autonomous region, forming a pan-urban system in Shaanxi province, on this basis, proposed adjustments recommended administrative divisions, as well as regional development planning assumptions shaft and development areas.The main innovation of this paper is to:(1) On the selecting of the data, for the first time from both the town and the county levels, high-resolution point view, analysis the scale structure of urban system, with a high precision。(2) In the empirical application, in the urban system study, referenced the mobility and reachability theory used in city accessibility study, and divided it into local and global indicators, proposed the significance and algorithm of local indicator.(3) In the study of theory, on the basis of the gravitation and field strength models, raise a theory of urban watershed and elevation model of urban system. In the3D space, given a quite perfect interpretation in the morphology of spatial structure of urban system, given a supplement for original theory.
