Although the oil and gas exploration at Liupanshan Basin has a long history, due to its special tectonic position, complicated regional tectonic stress, transformative overlay of multi-phase tectonic movements after the formation of basin, severe ground mulching and insufficient outcropping Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata and well-preserved structural form, relevant geological research has met with great difficulties. But due to the achievements in Hexi Corridor basin groups in its west, oil and gas at Ordos Basin in its east and other mineral resources exploration, as well as the oil and gas found in part of well drilling in previous work and the results about the quantity of resources, we have good reasons to believe that Liupanshan Basin, after elaborate geological structural investigations and analysis, has made certain breakthroughs in oil and gas exploration.This time, we mainly take advantage of a limited number of geophysical and drilling data, etc. through the survey into regional tectonic geology, combine with the regional tectonic movements at Liupanshan Basin as the background, use remote sensing interpretation, elaborate interpretation of seismic data, speed field construction, speed change mapping, tectonic-sedimentary evolution analysis, trap evaluation and other techniques and carry out a study into the basin’s tectonic styles and combination types, as well as the evolution characteristics of sedimentary facies and trap conditions. This paper mainly analyzes the characteristics of speed change in all strata series of Liupanshan Basin vertically and horizontally and tentatively establishes a time-depth relationship at Liupanshan. It takes the2D seismic data of Shengli Oilfield Branch, Sinopec at Liupanshan’s Block Construction as the principal thing, combines with the collected seismic data and studies the tectonic framework of Liupanshan Basin, analyzes the features of its structural growth and clarifies the tectonic interpretation schemes. On the basis of the synthetic seismographic calibrations, we explain and implement the structure of main reflectors at Liupanshan, complete the structural maps of various target strata and implement the structural trap of Liupanshan Basin development. Meanwhile, according to the field survey about outcroppings, as well as the sedimentary facies and sedimentary evolution characteristics of several typical profiles, we implement the changes in the thickness of sedimentary center at Liupanshan Area preliminarily, to lay a foundation for the description of favorable reservoirs in the next step.The study in this paper is to provide scientific basis for the oil and gas exploration in this area. It plays a realistic guiding role and has great strategic significance.
