Electrochemical analysis has been well-recognized as a powerful tool because of its low cost, easy operation, and portability. The choice of a proper working electrode is crucial for the success of electrochemical analysis. In this dissertation, a serial of membrane plasticizer-based carbon paste electrodes (CPE) have been developed, and performances of the membrane plasticizer-based carbon paste electrodes have been investigated. The main points of this dissertation are addressed as follows:1. Cathodic electrochemiluminescence (ECL) on membrane plasticizer-basted carbon paste electrodeIn this study, using the Ru(bpy)32+/ S2O82- system as a model system, tricresyl phosphate-based carbon paste electrode with extremely hydrogen evolution potential was used to improve stability of intermediates and achieve cathodic ECL. The tricresyl phosphate-based carbon paste electrode can dramatically stabilize electrogenerated Ru(bpy)3+. It allow the observation of both strong cathodic ECL and reversible Ru(bpy)32+/+ waves in aqueous solutions at CPE for the first time.2. Anodic stripping voltammetry for the determination of trace heavy metal ionsIn this dissertation, an electrodepositing bismuth film on membrane plasticizer-based carbon paste electrode is reported. The advantage of membrane plasticizer-based carbon paste electrode and the advantage of bismuth electrodes have been combined for the first time and the resulting modified electrodes were used for determination of Zn2+, Cd2+ and Pb2+. Thus as-prepared bismuth films-carbon paste electrodes exhibit good stability, precision, and excellent response compared with bismuth-film plated glassy carbon electrodes and bismuth oxide modified carbon paste electrodes, which may have broad applications.
