Oil in water emulsion (EW) is a new economical and environmental benign pesticide formulation. EW is environment friendly formulation with lower cost. Compared with micro-emulsion (ME), less amount of surfactant and less cost of the preparation are required in EW. Compared with emulsifiable concentrate (EC), the use of large amount of organic solvent is avoided and the preparation cost and environmental pollution caused by organic solvent are reduced in EW. EW is a dynamic and thermodynamic unstable system. The stability of the system is the key of the development of EW. Nano-emulsion, with droplet sizes of 50~500 nm, endows it with higher kinetic stability compared with emulsion, which make great interest in it on the delivery of water insoluble pesticide and the enhancement of EW stability.In this research, 6.9% fenoxaprop-P-ethyl nano-emulsion in water (NEW) with the advantages of environmental friendly, stabilization, and high efficiency is prepared by the selections of solvent system and multi-additives system, the study of the emulsion stability, the optimization of the emulsification method, the investigation of the formation mechanism of the nano-emulsion, and the test of the biological application property in greenhouse, based on the analysis of fenoxaprop-P-ethyl’s chemical structure and properties. The 6.9% fenoxaprop-P-ethyl NEW’s relevant properties are tested and the relevant method of analysis is established.Fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) are environment friendly and economically viable solvent, which were chosen as oil phase to study the phase behaviors of water/emulsifier /FAME systems. The stable and high efficient 6.9% fenoxaprop-P-ethyl NEW has been prepared by studying the emulsification method, using the low-energy emulsification method, and controlling the formation of the key phase. Its quality has been evaluated and the method of preparation for NEW is established initially.In this research, the biological activities of formulation in greenhouse from different solvent systems of 6.9% fenoxaprop-P-ethyl NEW were tested. The biological application property in greenhouse of this product was verified by the efficacy comparing with the domestic commercial and imported products.By researching the formula and the mechanism of formation and testing the biological application property, the environmental friendly, stable and high efficient 6.9% fenoxaprop-P-ethyl NEW is obtained with FAME as solvent and multi-additive system of non-ionic/anionic emulsifiers by low-energy emulsification method. The good biological application performance in greenhouse of 6.9% fenoxaprop-P-ethyl NEW shows this technical problem of the domestic pesticide formulations existed for many years would be solved. The good physical and biological application properties, low cost of formulation, and simple formulation process show that 6.9% fenoxaprop-P-ethyl NEW would has good market prospect.
