Tryout and quality inspection is both the key step of injection molding processingand the sticking point of production quality and efficiency. The correctness of tryoutresults directly determines the production stability, the reliability of quality inspectionstraight resolves the pass rate of products, and the efficiency of tryout and qualityinspection closely related with production costs and benefits. Currently, traditional methodof tryout which is commonly used in injection enterprise is too dependent on engineerexperience, sightless, and inefficient, and its reliability is low because of lack of scientificbasis. The mainstream approach of quality inspection can not guarantee high pass rate andzero defects. For the above shortcomings, in the background of national science andtechnology support project topic of advanced injection molding process and moldstructure development and promotion of new applications in Materials Forming and DieTechnology State Key Laboratory of Huazhong University of Science and Techonogy, aninjection molding online monitoring prototype system based on cavity pressure isdesigned and developed.Aim at the application limitations of mainstream cavity pressure systems in injectionmolding tryout and production process, functional requirements of cavity pressure basedinjection molding automatic tryout and online quality inspection was proposed through theresearch and in-depth analysis of the research and application status of cavity pressure inthe field of injection molding. On this basis, a cavity pressure based injection moldingonline monitoring prototype system is designed and its overall architecture is introduced.Data support platform is the underlying data base of this system. A real-time, accurateand highly scalable hardware system of data acquisition and signal feedback and controlhas been built using Advantech PCI-1711multifunction DAS card and Kistler temperatureand pressure integrated sensor. On the basis of the data logic of existing mainstream cavitypressure system, combined with this system’s demands, a stable and reliable data logichierarchy is designed. Thus, a perfect data support platform is built.Injection molding process management strategy despicts the specific applicationmode of cavity pressure in injection molding process, a both scientific and effective cavity pressure based management strategy in tryout and production process has been proposedby combining the analysis of cavity pressure applications with the actual needs ofinjection enterprises.Based on the above studies, the cavity pressure based injection molding onlinemonitoring prototype system has been developed by using MFC framework and opensource library, and database technology has been utilized to implement persistent storageand efficient management of production data. Thus, a both efficient and reliable softwareplatform for cavity pressure based injection molding automatic tryout and online qualityinspection has finally been provided.
