Because of the long distance, complex working conditions characteristics of the pipeline, monitoring leakage only by artificial patrol is not enough. A single pipeline leak detection method is difficult to achieve a precise forecasting warning and leak positioning. There are many research and application of pipeline leak monitoring system, but they have ubiquitous of shortcomings and deficiencies. Therefore, the study of pipeline leak real-time monitoring system is imminent.This paper introduces the present status of pipelines and the development of pipeline leak detection technology at home and abroad. Through the contrast and analysis of several methods of pipeline leak detection and location, the pipeline leaking real-time monitor system was designed based on negative pressure wave theory and combined with the SCADA system(Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition system). SCADA system mainly adopts differential leak detection method and negative pressure wave method for leak detection and leak positioning. Using the negative pressure wave of pipeline leak detection methods to detect leaks, the velocity of propagation need to determined, pressure transmitter response time difference on both ends should be considered and overcome the effects of noise. In this paper, to achieve reunification of the time, global positioning system was used to correct the head part and the last part computer time. To improve the detection accuracy and positioning accuracy by adopting the method of signal processing. Using discrete wavelet transform to extract transient pressure wave signal edge method and isolated information of feature points accurately from the industrial field of electromagnetic interference noise. Wavelet transform is obtained by using the filter set of methods. The system is in the domestic leading level and provides a new thought and method for pipeline leak detection field, and has a broad application prospect in terms of liquid pipeline leak detection and location. We should constantly improve the leakage monitoring and positioning accuracy of the system, strengthen the use of system maintenance, thus, to ensure the long-term stable operation of the system.
