The three-phase electrode consumption rate is an important parameter. Because there is no accurate online measuring instrument for measuring electrode consumption rate, the consumption rate can’t be real-time monitoring. However, we could use Soft-Measuring technology to overcome this problem. With the rate of electrode consumption, electrode working length and electrode pressure slipping time can be calculated. It is conducive to calcium carbide manufacture. Therefore the soft-sensing research for the three-phase electrodes consumption has certain engineering application value. The main work and achievements are as follows:First, from reading and studying, there is a key factors of electrode consumption:electric arc power. We can’t measure electric arc power, so we must catch new parameter. Through the analysis of furnace electrical parameters of the internal relations, two new parameters were found:circuit power and circuit resistance. They are directly related to electric arc power, and them are much easier to get.Next, circuit power and circuit resistance are selected as secondary variables by studying of the electrode consumption mechanism, and set up electrodes consumption models by using the linear regression method. Production data shows that the electrodes consumption model’s estimation precision is higher. And the model can accurately track the electrodes consumption rate, it reflects the nature of electrode consumption. Finally, create an electrode working length model and calculate electrode slipping time, by the analysis of production and electrodes consumption models.
