In this study, linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and low density polyethylene (LDPE) was grafted by melt reaction method in the Haake torque rheometer, the grafting monomer is maleic anhydride (MAH), the initiator is dicumyl peroxide (DCP), grafted products referred to as LLDPE-g-MAH, LDPE-g-MAH and LLDPE/LDPE-g-MAH. By Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), the gel content (GC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), the grafting rate (GD), the melt flow rate (MFR) and so on to conduct a series of tests and characterization for grafted products, The results show:MAH is grafted onto the macromolecular making system viscosity increases, but the melt flow rate decreases, Crosslinking and degradation are reactions of two opposite effects, They were affected with the size of the polymer molecular weight and size of the graft MFR together.Using chemical titration to test grafting rate of grafted products, By comparison find grafting ratio and gel content of LDPE-g-MAH is higher than LLDPE-g-MAH under the same conditions. For comprehensive LLDPE and LDPE overall performance, Both have mechanical strength of LLDPE and good formability of LDPE, Firstly premix LLDPE and LDPE, then graft blends, Measuring the size of which can be grafted, Finally measure the size of which can be grafted.Study different reaction in the extrusion process, and explore the time of cross-linking.
