The field of oil and gas exploitation has long been puzzled by the question of how to efficiently exploit rich reserves of heavy oil resources. It appears particularly important to make fine geologic modeling and numerical simulation for heavy oil reserves, with the simulation results conducive to guiding adjustment in the exploitation mode.Tuo 7 block Ed1 heavy oil reservoir belongs to the Shengli Oilfield. The exploitation is difficult to develop because of the high content of edge-bottom-water and around the reservoir, combined with the complicated geological condition. This essay took this reservoir as the object of research, analysed its geological condition, reviewed the processes of past exploitations, and summarized relevant geological features and that on exploitation. It also analysed the flowing mechanism of heavy oil in porous media, basis partial differential equation that takes into account of thermal transmission and how to solve the problem through numerical approach.Based on analysis in the geological characteristics of the block, by use of the static data, a 3D geological model is built for this block so as to further describe the characteristics including the distribution of oil and water, physical property parameters and fault strike. Based on the geological model, a numerical simulation research is conducted to set up the static and dynamic data-flow models for the block and matched with nearly 20 years of production history of the block in terms of geological reserves and main development indicators as oil yield, liquid yield and water content, and then the matching results were evaluated. By virtue of its high precision, this model is utilized to make prediction for designed development adjustment programs, with prediction results as guidance for the development in the block.
