The flexibility of hydrocracking as a process for refining petroleum has resulted in its phenomenal growth during the past ten years. Heavy vacuum gas oil feedstocks that can be converted to lower boiling or more desirable products range from naphtha to lubricating oils. Products include such widely diverse materials such as gasoline, kerosene, middle distillates, lubricating oils, and various chemicals.Faced to the tendency of the heavier of feedstocks with the larger hydrocarbong molecules and heavy poly-aromatic molecules, it is more and more difficult to processed. That certainly necessitates having high activity catalyst that can accommodate these large molecules and perform the desired reactions.Various researches in developing a good catalyst with heteropoly acids supported on Y/β composited zeolite were performed. Finally, LH-1 hydrocracking catalyst was obtained. They were characterized by XRD, NH3-TPD, IR and N2 adsorption-desorption that the results demonstrated LH-1 catalyst and its raw materials had an advanced pore-distribution. LH-1 hydrocracking catalyst had a good activity and stability(0.012℃/d), and a high selectivity of middle distillates that can achieve to 80%, which can satisfied the demands of commercial hydrocracking plants.
