With the development of titanium industry, the supply of natural rutile are sharply reduced. which artificial rutile becomes excellent substitute due to its excellent mechanical properties and thermal properties, which rich titanium material is important intermediate raw materials for the preparation of artificial rutile. In general, the titanium resources are plentiful in China,but the characteristics of resources are embodied in complex composition, low-grade, high impurity content in silicon,calcium and magnesium etc. which leads to the impurities (Si,Ca,Mg) are further enriched after the ilmenite smelting by electric furnace. The TiO2content of acid soluble titanium slag prepared by electric furnace smelting are in low grade, which can not achieve the production requirements of the chlorination process for titanium dioxide and titanium sponge.Therefore, researching and developing the thery and technology of preparing high-grade rutile from acid soluble titanium slag removedg impurities in the lower energy consumption and less environmental pollution has great significance for the large-scale and efficient utilization of the titanium resources in China.In this paper, the acid soluble titanium slag from Yunnan province are obtained, which process mineralogy are full studied, and combined with the characteristics of the mode of energy transmission and selective heating of microwave heating, a new technology of microwave activated roasting-acid leaching titanium slag system for preparation of high-grade artificial rutile is proposed.In the present study, the modern analysis and testing technology like X ray diffraction analysis, SEM-EDAX analysis, Raman spectrum and FT-IR spectrum analysis etc are used and the thermodynamic principle is applied on the properties of acid soluble titanium slag, the technology and theory of microwave activated roasting-acid leaching are also researched. The Response Surface Methodology is used to evaluate the effect of factors and their interactions in the process of reaction and the optimal process parameters are obtained.In this paper, the technology of microwave activated roasting-acid leaching are used for treatment of acid soluble titanium slag which obtained good results. And the study of mechanism of new process provide a new way for reasonable utilization of rich titanium resources in China.
