Water is the foundation of life and is one of the human survival essential material resources. But now the water pollution is becoming a more and more serious problem because of the discharge of the living and industrial sewage with the rapid development of industry and rapid human population growth. Therefore, monitoring of water quality is particularly important. However, the traditional manual monitoring method can not meet the demand, because the traditional chemical detection method is complex and not with real-time, so it can not reflect the most primitive state of the water quality, and it may cause the secondary pollution; On the contrary, modern instrument monitoring method is now the trend of the water quality detection. It works by using related sensors to make the chemical or physical quantity into electrical signals and send these signals to MCU to be digitization.This paper puts forward the whole design scheme of a water quality monitoring system with the solar energy cell board as the core, the STM32 Series MCU as the core control board and the GPRS as the data transmission platform. It contains three parts, which are water quality testing, site LCD screen display and the upper computer software. It can monitor the PH, DO, EC (conductivity), ORP (oxidation reduction point) and other parameters of water. Users can know the situation of water quality and corresponding measures in time by live screen and remote PC software. User can also read the SD card to get the historical data to obtain water quality change trend. The system can request a sensor data and upload at a certain time. When the sensor is abnormal, the system can automatically positioning error types and notifies the server.With more and more attention to the water environmental issues, government departments at all levels are increasing efforts to establish a real-time water quality monitoring system. At present, the design has been identified by Hefei City Hall and is putted on the Swan Lake on trial. Believe that, as the system is being perfected, this design will make a contribution to Chinese water environment monitoring and management.
