Plane diffluent compound die is mainly applied to extrusion process of hollow aluminum profile. Extrusion process is divided into distributary, welding, forming three stages. Extrusion process parameters and die structure sizes have important effect on extrusion process.In this paper, the transverse profile extrusion process as the research object, through the three dimensional modeling software Pro/Engineer to modeling, the 3D models are imported DEFORM-3D, and dividing the grids, setting the parameters of the model, numerical simulation analysis in the DEFORM-3D. By changing the size of die structure, that is to say, to changing the welding chamber depth and shunt bridge width. Analysis of welding chamber depth of 10 mm,13-mm,15 mm and shunt bridge width of 20 mm,25 mm,30 mm on the effects of extrusion process. Secondly, the die bearing length is optimized; metal flow velocity in the place of die bearing is more uniform. Finally, the influence of the billet preheating temperature and extrusion speed to the extrusion process is analyzed.The results show that the welded chamber depth of 13 mm and shunt bridge width of 25 mm are respectively ideal weld depth value and shunt bridge width value. The die load and the maximum equivalent stress are small, in favor of improving die life. High degree of metal welded in the weld chamber and larger equivalent strain of metal in die bearing are beneficial to profiles quality. After optimized the die bearing, Flow distribution factor DMVias the criterion,|DMVi|≤0.05, uniformity of the metal flow velocity increased. Through simulation of the extrusion process of different preheating temperature of metal billet, with the improvement of preheating temperature, extrusion pressure decreases. With improvement the extrusion speed, the highest temperature of metal in the process of extrusion rise. During the extrusion speed is 8 mm/s, die load is relatively small.After optimized to get the best die structure size and technological parameters:the welded chamber depth is 13 mm; the shunt bridge width is 25 mm; four die bearing units length were 7.2、6.7、5.9、5; the preheating temperature is 480℃; the extrusion speed is 8 mm/s.
