Research On The Costume And Innovative Application Of The Yi People In Weishan, Yunnan

Yi culture is an essential part of Chinese culture and Yi people build a culture of their own with national characteristics in the long history. Weishan clothing plays a significant role in the Yi culture and Dongshan women’s dress especially inherits the characteristics of Nanzhao royal apparel. Therefore, research on Weishan Yi dress helps to discover, protect and inherit Yi Culture, Nan Zhao Culture and Totem Culture.Weishan clothing consists of three parts: Dongshan, Xishan and Ma’anshan, among which Dong Shan clothing inherits the characteristics of Nanzhao royal apparel and has a striking feature. The paper introduces the typical patterns of the Yi clothing---- "dragon, tiger", "hibiscus", "spider" and those patterns help to present the feature of the design and express its cultural connotations.The paper analyses the problems about the development and protection of Weishan clothing and discusses its principle, method and specific examples in application. In application, we should not only maintain its original cultural, but also develop new patterns. As regards the method, except direct use and indirect use, it contains color logic extraction method, geometric pattern segmentation method and graphics applications method as well. Besides, it introduces clothing marketing in tourism. Combined with modern design style, Yi culture becomes more colorful and vigorous. Thus, the paper also presents the value and glamour of clothing culture of the Yi people. And in turn it helps to promote the development of the culture.
