| The materials of cigarette filter tip are acetate fiber, polypropylene fiber and its modified product at present. They have the disadvantage of complicated production process, high production costs and chemical residue. After cigarette smoke, the wastes of filter tip are difficult to biodegradable and damage to the environment. The cream and silk filter tip are also having some disadvantages and difficult to industrial production. In human consciousness of environmental protection of increasingly today, to develop a type of safe, environmental and low cost filter tip become a trend. This paper studies to use potato starch and Konjac Glucomannan (KGM) as the backing material, by sol-gel and freezing drying process obtain polysaccharide xerogel which content to size of cigarette industrial. Then we did some characterization on it. At last, applications in cigarette were studied.(1)To content the machining size of cigarette filter tip (inside diameter 7 mm and 120 mm in length), the size of moulds for polysaccharide xerogel are need to inner diameter of 8 mm,140 mm in length. To content the mechanical property (hardness) and appropriate pressure drop, effects of preparation temperature, preparation time, starch and pre-freezing temperature on hardness of polysaccharide xerogel were analyzed. Effects of starch, pre-freezing temperature, HPMC, KGM and pectin on pressure drop of polysaccharide xerogel were analyzed. The preparation conditions were optimized by the response surface methodology (RSM). The optimal preparation conditions were:preparation temperature 90℃, preparation time 30min, KGM 0.3g, starch 5g, HPMC 1.4g, carrageenan 0.3g, pectin 0.3g,glycerol 2g, pre-freezing temperature -15℃. Under these conditions, the hardness of xerogell was 5.7N.The pressure drop of xerogel were 1048Pa.The pressure drop in this condition taste similar to acetate fiber and belong to acceptable range.(2) The experimental results show that the polysaccharide xerogels have smooth surface, no shrinkage and collapse. The xerogels show three-dimensional (3-D) porous network structure. The density of xerogel is 0.0923g/cm3 lower to acetate fiber 0.1112g/cm3. The network structure of samples in pre-freezing temperature -10℃ have broken and missing. With the reduce of pre-freezing temperature (-15℃ã€-20℃ã€-30℃-40℃), the holes of xerogle are smaller. The hole of samples in pre-freezing temperature -15℃ is regulation. The pressure is close to acetate fiber in this condition. According to the DSC and TG, the sample in the 110℃ internal stability is well. The BET surface area of xerogels is 51.84m2/g.The pore size distribution is 0-160nm. The average pore size is 50nm. The total pore volume is 0.18cm3/g. The BET surface area of xerogels is much higher than acetate fiber and modified acetate fiber. The xerogels can adsorb moisture under different humidity from RH 50% to 80%.The xerogels sample can keep the original form after moisture absorption. As environment humidity increase, equilibrium moisture content of xerogel increase.(3) There are not obvious differences on the perimeter and puff number between new cigarette filter tip and acetate fiber. The result of mainstream smoke of new filter tip cigarette shows that new filter tip can reduce the amount of TPM (10.41%), nicotine (8.08%), tar (9.56%), Benzopyrene (11.5%), Phenol (35.8%) and Crotonaldehyde (5.9%) in mainstream smoke. The effect of new filter tip on adsorption CO is as much as acetate fiber. The degradation rate of new filter tip in 28 day is 60.84% compared to acetate fiber 14.56%.It show that the new filter tip can be degradation by microorganism rapidly. The results of sensory evaluation shows:the smoke of cigarette with new filter tip is soft, stimulus reduction, taste improvement. |
