With the continuous rapid development of foundry industry, requirements of production technology, casting quality and labor environment have been improved.Casting scholars is not satisfied with the common use sands at present, so they have begun to use Ceramacore to replace it. Ceramacore sand is a new kind of artificial sand and it is spherical. Ceramacore has been successsully used in high manganese steel casting and large steel castings, etc. because of its satisfactory performance. Now there is almost no technology, equipment and experience about the regeneration of Ceramacore, Ceramacore’s popularization and application is limited by which.In this paper, the technology of regenerating used Ceramacoer agglomerated with alkaline phenolic resin is studied. Two regeneration process have been taken after analyzing the characteristics of Ceramacore and binder, which are wet regeneration and thermal regeneration. 24 h tensile strength and LOI of regeneration Ceramacore is also performed in this paper, finally, results were got as follows:The best technological parameters of wet regeneration is that: the temperature of the mixture of sand and water is 60℃, the number of scrubbing is 6 times, mass ratio of the sand and the water is1:1.5, stirring 20 min. Reclaimed sand is round shape, and there is no obvious change on particle size. Particle surface is clean, and there is no fluctuate on it. Alkaline phenolic resin has been almost removed, and just a small amount of binder residues in the micro holes. The LOI of reclaimed sand is 1.975%, and its 24 h tensile strength is 0.673 MPa, various performance of regeneration Ceramacore is close to the new sand.The best technological parameters of thermal regeneration is that: holding time is20 min and heating temperature is 550℃. Reclaimed sand is round shape, and particle surface is clean. LOI of regeneration Ceramacore is 0.51%, and it show the original surface. There is a small amount of binder remain on the surface of sand which is acicular alkaline phenolic resin.There is a small amount of needle alkaline phenolic resin on the surface of regeneration Ceramacore which is reclaimed by thermal regeneration. The surface of regeneration Ceramacore is clean, and there is a small amount of binder residues in the micro holes. The performance of regeneration Ceramacore which is reclaimed by thermal regeneration is more outstanding than wet regeneration. But sewage is needed to deal with which is produced by wet regeneration. The equipment of thermal regeneration is simple structure and convenient manipulation. The equipment of wet regeneration covers an area of large, and its structure is complex. Thermal regeneration converts electrical energy into heat energy, and then used Ceramacore is high temperature calcined by costing fuel. Wet regeneration converts electrical energy into mechanical energy, and then used Ceramacore is scrub softly.
