Water resources is the natural resources for human being’s survival. In recent years, thefrequent human activities and the rapid development of industry generate wastewater with large quantities of ammonium. There are many sources of ammonia wastewater aspects, especially the discharge of industrial wastewater with large quantities of ammonium have become environmental issues can not be ignored. Ammonia wastewater generated in the process of industrial ammonia production, the mass concentration of ammonia is 400-700 mg / L, some even up to 1000-2000 mg / L.Large amounts of untreated discharge of ammonia nitrogen wastewater, cause the eutrophication of water bodies, the blooms of algae, aquatic hypoxia, the death of fish. How effectively to treat ammonia nitrogen wastewater has become a direction of domestic and foreign scholars study. This paper studied the fertilizer production enterprise industrial wastewater, containing ammonia nitrogen, summarized the domestic and foreign technology about ammonia treatment, put forward the combination of complex biological denitrification technology consisted of anaerobic ammonia oxidation, shortcut nitrification denitrification and anoxic as the main body of treating-processconsidering the characteristics of wastewater. The treating process is “A/A/O/O+cyanide breaking oxidation + flocculation + sedimentation”. In this paper, based on the above treating process, the ammonia wastewater engineering was designed, each unit process parameters was determined. After the calculation the structure size and main equipment of each wastewater treating buildings and ancillary buildings was determined. At the same time, buildings and utilities involved in wastewater treatment process were designed. After the civil construction, equipmentinstallation and debugging, the wastewater treatment engineering has to operatenormally. The treated wastewater was sampled and analysised constinuously.Theresults show that under the condition of the influent CODcr=650mg/L, NH3-N=200mg/L, pH =8, the enfluent CODcr=45mg/L, NH3-N=9.2mg/L in the treated water which can achieve the first level of "ammonia industrial water pollutant discharge standards"(DB41/538-2008).The practical operating results show that CODcr, NH3-N removal rate of this kind wastewater can reach 90% after treated by complex biological denitrification technology and the annual average CODcr and NH3-N emissions are 155136 kg 、 65376 kg. Study of this project indicated that the composite biological nitrogen removal technology is feasible to treat high ammonia wastewater using the process of "A/A/O/O+ oxidation of cyanide breaking + flocculation and sedimentation".
