PBT is a crystalline thermoplastic polyester, with fast crystallization rate, high mechanical strength, size stability, and good electrical insulating performance. Moreover, it also has outstanding resistance to heat, acid, oil and chemical corrosion resistance.Small aperture, high filtration precision of PBT porous fiber has a good application prospect in automotive fuel filter.Different weight ratio of PBT/PP blends were prepared by melt blending, then the blend fibers were prepared by melt spinning, finally the PBT porous fiber is formed in xylene solvent by dissolving PP. The structure and properties of the blends, the blend fibers and the porous fibers were characterized by DSC, TG, XRD, SEM and test of specific surface area and pore size. The effect of PBT/PP mass ratio, varieties and amount of the compatibilizers on the structure and properties of all the above-mentioned samples were studied in detail.Results showed that the microstructure of PBT/PP blends was best when the weight ratio of PBT/PP was 70/30. Compared with the other two compatibilizers, it was found that compatibility of PBT/PP blends were best using EVA-g-MAH as the compatibilizers. When the weight of PBT/PP/EVA-g-MAH was 70/30/3, the compatibility of blending system was best. The results showed that the best dissolving temperature is 120 ℃, dissolving time is 40 min, concentration ratio is 1:50.
