Research On The Application Of Traditional Batik Art In The Chinese Robes

Batik is an excellent traditional Chinese craftsmanship, it is rooted in people’s daily life, and it has been widely used in people’s clothing in southwest of China and it formed a unique traditional art of batik in the long-term development. Traditional batik art, as a bright pearl of the traditional clothing culture, possess not only aesthetic, but also with folk and culture characteristics. Now, the clothing industry is thriving. Traditional batik art, as outstanding national dress art, can also feed the modern fashion design. It has heavy sense of history and folk connotation that modern art do not possess, and it can improve the cultural and artistic characteristics of modern clothing. In order to rationally apply the traditional clothing elements in the modern design and let traditional culture feed the modern art while inherit themselves, the precondition is the designers need to fully understand the traditional clothing culture and systematically and thoroughly research the traditional batik art.The content of this research project is application of traditional batik art in Chinese long gown.Firstly, based on literature consulting and real object investigation, this paper explains the concept of traditional batik art and summarizes the features of different types of batik art and then concretely studied the patterns and techniques that can reflect the features of the traditional batik art in a concentrated way. In terms of pattern, through literature consulting and real object analysis, this paper summarizes the features of patterns from five aspects including topic, connotation, modeling,composition form, and color and put forward improvement methods for traditional batik patterns to comply with the modern aesthetics based on the modern clothing design concept. In terms of techniques, through fieldwork and experimental practice, this paper carries out research of the technique of traditional batik, illustrates the materials, tools and procedures of traditional batik technique, analyzes the features of the traditional batik art technique, and expands one single technique. This paper focuses on the research of waxing and splitting wax techniques which have major impact on the outer appearance of batik, and analyzes the artistic effects of different techniques based on practice experiments.Finally, taking into account the characteristics of both the traditional batik art and Chinese long gowns, this paper researches the application principles, methods and manners of traditional batik art in Chinese-style gowns are studied with an anticipation that while modern garments can be enriched with its reasonable applications, the legacy of traditional batik art could also be inherited.The research believes that traditional batik art is the reflection of life habits, aesthetic interests and thinking concepts in one place and possesses extremely high artistic value. Among them,pattern is the essence of traditional batik art, possessing the unique style and deep connotations.Whereas the extension of technical processes has enriched the texture and modeling of batik patterns and expanded the development space for traditional batik art. The application of traditional batik art in Chinese long gowns increases the cultural connotation and artistic value of Chinese long gowns and enriches the diversity of the modern clothing, and at the same time plays a certain promoting role in the modern use of ancient traditional culture and the inheritance of batik.
