A new method was raised and a device was designed to prepare Honeycomb materials by casting method in this paper. Honeycomb materials have been prepared by casting method based on this theoretical basis that graphite has poor wettability with liquid metal so that the binding force was weakly. This new technique was more efficient, cheaper and easy to be operated. In order to verify the feasibility and superiority of this technology, this technique was simulated by computer and the principle of preparation was analyzed, a mathematical model was established and a formula was derived to estimate the diameter of the hole, they were the theoretical basis for preparing Honeycomb materials.At first, the principle of preparation was analyzed in this paper, when the wetting angle was more than 90° between graphite and metal matrix, the honeycomb materials could be prepared by casting method based on this theoretical basis that graphite has poor wettability with liquid metal so that the binding force was weakly. Secondly, the reaction hardly happened between carbon and aluminum, so the structure of graphite was almost not destroyed, which provided a guarantee for the core could be pulled out. once again, in order to verify the feasibility and superiority of this technology, they were successfully prepared that pentagram hole, square hole, triangle hole, hexagon hole and a slender hole with large Length-diameter. At last, a device was designed to prepare honeycomb materials, and the device included heating module, cooling system, pull mechanism, resistance module and graphite mold. This technique was simulated by computer, the result shown that honeycomb materials could be prepared by this method. In addition, through the observation and analysis by the optical microscope, the result shown that the graphite interlayer plays an important role to that the hole core can be pulled out after the liquid metal cooling solidification at room temperature. A mathematical model was established and a formula was derived to estimate the diameter of the hole based on the characteristics of metal solidification, which made theoretical value in good agreement with experimental result, the relative error was 1-2%.
