Ecological Health Assessment Of Qing River And Fan River Basin

Ecological health assessment on the basin scale is one of the main directions of it and one of the emerging research topics of landscape ecology and environmental science research.Qing river and Fan river are the main tributaries of Liao river. In recent years, as the increase of human social and economic activities, the ecosystem was suffered damage, such as the water environmental degradation, the destruction of vegetation, the soil desertification, the soil erosion and so on. It not only affects healthy development of the system of Qing river and Fan river, but also relates to the sustainable social and economic development of the Liao river.Based on the background and the significance of ecological health assessment, the paper reviews the research status at home and abroad and determines the assessment framework and technology roadmap. In accordance with "Ecological Health Assessment of Basin Evaluation Guide(Trial)" draught up by the General Office of the State Environmental Protection in 2013. The framework determines the research scale, the index system, the evaluation model, grading and the methods, content and technical requirement of ecological health assessment. Assessment of the object is selected the system of water and land. The index system was built follow the scientific principles of systematic principle, the principle of simplicity and operability principles. The water ecosystem include habitat structure, aquatic organisms and ecological pressure; terrestrial ecosystem include ecological structure, ecological functions and ecological stress. Evaluation criteria are divided into excellent, good, fair, poorer and poor. To make a comprehensive assessment for the ecological health of the watershed use comprehensive index method. The results show:The overall ecological health assessment index of Qing river was 58.66, on the general evaluation grade. The health of aquatic ecosystem of was good. Macrobenthos diversity index and fish species diversity index were lower than 40 points in a poor state; Endemism (indicative) retention of the species, in general state; water quality index was in general state; channel connectivity was good.The overall ecological health assessment index of Fan river was 69.39, on the good evaluation grade. The health of aquatic ecosystem of was good; the characterization of aquatic organisms indicators, in general state; water quality index was in general state; channel connectivity was excellent.By the ecological health assessment of Qing river and Fan river can understand the status of the basin and the main problems, It provides important theoretical basis and practical guidance for the future development of effective management and comprehensive protection of environmentally sustainable development in Liao river.
