In this paper, cyclopalladated ferrocenylimine catalyst with rigid structure was prepared, which was characterized by 1H NMR, 13 C NMR, 31 P NMR and MS. Besides, the single crystral structure was also obtained. Polymer brushes of Si-PFI/Pd and Si-PBs were obtained by atom transfer radical polymerization successfully, in which polymerizable monomers were ferrocenylimines F2 and catalyst F4, respectively. The polymer brushers were characterized by water contact angle(WCA), atom force microscopy(AFM), UV-vis spectrophotometry(UV), X-ray photoelectron spectrum(XPS), cyclic voltammetry(CV). Catalytic properties of polymer brushes were investigated in the Suzuki reaction as a template. In addition to, in order to compare with Si-PBs, the self-assembled monolayers of cyclopalladated ferrocenylimines(Si-SAMs) was prepared.1. Synthetic route of cyclopalladated ferrocenylimine was shown in Scheme 1.2. Poly(ferrocenylimine) brushes were prepared through “grafting from”(Scheme 2).3. Poly(cyclopalladated ferrocenylimine monomer) brushes were prepared through“grafting from”(Scheme 3).4. The self-assembly monolayer was obtained(Scheme 4).5. The Suzuki reaction was selected as template to investigate catalytic properties of Si-PFI/Pd.The result suggest that the polymer film has high catalytic activity for the reaction and can be recycled three times. By measuring, the palladium loading of Si-PFI/Pd is 6.45×10-6 mmol/cm2.6. The Suzuki reaction was selected as template to investigate catalytic properties of Si-PBs. The result suggest that the polymer film has high catalytic activity and stability for the reaction and can be recycled five times. According to the result of characterization of the catalytic process interface and contracting with homogeneous catalysis, the catalytic process is proved that coupling reaction proceeds via a mechanism that was proposed for the surface-catalyzed process.By ICP-AES measurement, polymer brushes(Si-PBs) palladium loading is about 2.3 times of the palladium loading of self-assembled monolayer(Si-SAMs).
